Baler Wet Market – Exploring Baler Aurora – This is our Philippines

Maly and Grandma
were on the hunt for crabs and shrimp. We made a stop by the Baler Wet Market,
but all the crabs were sold out and the shrimp were at a high price. We did not
stay long in the wet market and I was happy for that. Sometimes the smell in
the wet markets can be a bit overcoming.
I would have made
a video of the next place we stopped but trying to find parking was not easy.
Maly and Anabel went in before me and they got crab and shrimp that were
already cooked and prepared. They also had fresh tuna steaks that were grilled.
Those were pretty good even if I do not eat fish that often.

Enjoying Samgyeopsal on the beach at Baler – Exploring Baler Aurora – Th...

Steve, do you mean
you come all the way to a beach and not eat fresh seafood? Well, we were not
sure where we would end up, so we had brought some food with us as well. We
enjoy eating samgyeopsal (cooked pork belly and lettuce). We had gotten the
meat from one of the stores in Cauayan and brought it along. We also had
brought our small portable stove to cook it on.
You might notice
in the video that we should have had kimchi to go along with this. I seemed to
have forgotten it at the house. If you are eating this at a Korean restaurant,
they would probably serve it with kimchi and other side dishes.
We like adding
onions and garlic to the grill while we fry the meat. These can then be added
into the wraps to make it extra delicious.
Marissa did a
great job keeping up with our demand for the meat to be done. I did not find
out until later that this is not one of her favorite meals. Sorry Marissa that
you did not enjoy this as much as we did but thank you for doing a wonderful
job cooking it!

Hanging Bridge– Exploring Baler Aurora – This is our Philippines

We thought we
would try to indulge in a little something more adventurous. Not too far from
Diguisit Beach we found Baler Hanging Bridge. The hanging bridge is a
steel-cable foot bridge over the moss-green waters of the Tibag-Sibang river.
The river then empties into the Baler Bay just south of the bridge. This is
just south of the main tourist area along Sibang Beach. There is a grand view
as you cross the bridge of the river’s mouth.
It is a little
shaky crossing the bridge and Grandma did not want to partake in this
adventure. Megan was also a little scared but seemed to be alright on the way
back across. For the most part it was not that bad to walk across, even with
the amount of people that were crossing that day.

Diguisit Beach– Exploring Baler Aurora – This is our Philippines

Right down the
road from Diguisit Falls we came upon Diguisit Beach. Baler maybe better known
amongst the surfers for its beaches with waves, but it also has beaches like
these with their roack formations as the main attraction. These rock formations
are another reason that make Baler one of the best road trip destinations in
Luzon.
If you enjoy these
